Men's Faculty Club

August 9–12, 2009

Faculty Club
University of California, Berkeley

Explore and address issues of access, equity, and achievement with renowned university educators, community college leaders, and a team of innovators from your own college. Join teams from California and out-of-state colleges to develop plans to implement the Basic Skills Initiative.

This summer’s program will provide training in the use of Cal-PASS data for identifying student issues in retention and success, how to identify the most effective practices, and how to measure outcomes.

The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, which is working on strengthening pre-collegiate education in community colleges, is also a partner in this summer's Tillery Institute, sponsoring a kick-off talk by MacArthur "Genius" and math educator Uri Treisman, "Nurturing Student Success: A look at Best Practices Through the Lens of Scientific Advances in Motivation and Resilience Theory"

Dale Tillery This Institute honors the legacy of Dale Tillery, an author of the California Master Plan for Higher Education and a leader in protecting open access and multiple options for all community college learners. Tillery served on the GSE faculty from 1958 until 1981.

This 3-day conference provides a unique setting for a team from your campus to reflect, plan for needed change, receive input from peers, and prepare to implement innovation.
