Parental and Peer Involvement in the Schooling of
Latino Adolescents
In spite of making substantial gains over the past decade,
Mexican-American students continue to face serious obstacles. This
research group is probing the reasons for these ongoing educational
problems by conducting in-depth analyses of the views of low-income
Mexican-American ninth grade students in two high schools in the Bay
Area. The data set includes repeated, in-depth interviews obtaining
students' perspectives on schooling, including the support they
receive from parents, teachers, and peers. Additional data include a
student time use diary, parent surveys, and interviews with school
staff.
The principle investigator is Susan Holloway.
